Ratatouille has won the Best animated Film at the 80th Academy Awards. Congratulations to the little guy. All the rats must be very proud. Ratatouille beat out Persepolis and Surf's Up.

Ratatouille is the Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA Award and Grammy Award winning animated feature film produced by Pixar and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.

The story is about Rémy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), a rat living in Paris who wants to be a chef, but negative feedback from his family and the prejudice of humans threaten to hinder his dreams. Remy the rat longs to exercise his talents as a gourmet chef and gets the chance when he finds himself in a famous Parisian restaurant after becoming separated from his family during an escape through the sewers. Rémy does his best to live the life of a gourmet.

When his secret improvements to the restaurant's food are mistakenly attributed to Linguini, the garbage boy, the two team up to form an unlikely culinary partnership that will benefit them both. Rémy meets yet another obstacle in the form of a famous as well as antagonistic food critic named Anton Ego, "The Grim Eater."

The film was the eighth movie produced by Pixar, and was directed by Brad Bird,

The title is a pun on the French peasant dish ratatouille.

On January 6th Miley visited the Children’s National Medical Centert before her concert in Washington D.c. The teen pop star paid a visit to the Georgetown University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital as part of the Tracy’s Kids charity.

Cyrus who recently had her name legally change to Miley Ray Cyrus met with approximately 100 parents and their children and posed for oodles of pictures and signed autographs for all the sick youngsters. She really did put a smile on their faces and made them forget their the pain for a moment.

Miley Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus, adopted her childhood nickname "Miley", short for "Smiley" as her stage name.

I personally think she should keep the Destiny Hope making a full name Miley Ray Destiny Hope Cyrus with the short version being Miley Ray Cyrus. Most people never really know that people have other names unless if you're a celebrity. I think children should be allowed to choose their names while keeping their original birth names. I like Miley Ray Destiny Hope Cyrus. It sounds complete and right.

Candy Bar Pie

4 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese, softened

1 Tbsp. milk

1 container (12 oz) Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed, divided

2 pkgs. (2.7 oz each) chocolate-covered caramel peanut nougat bars, chopped

1 ¾ cups cold milk

2 pkgs. (4 serving size) Jell-O chocolate flavor instant pudding

1 Keebler chocolate pie crust (6 oz)

Mix the cream cheese and 1 Tbsp. milk in a bowl with a wire whisk until smooth.

Gently stir in 2 cups of whipped topping and chopped candy bars; set aside.

Pour 1 ¾ cups milk into another bowl.

Add the pudding mixes.

Beat with a wire whisk for 1 minute.

Gently stir in ½ cup whipped topping.

Spread half of the pudding mixture on the bottom of the crust.

Spread cream cheese mixture over the pudding mixture.

Top with remaining pudding mixture.

Put the pie in the fridge for 4 hours until it is set.

Garnish with the remaining whipped topping.

Prepared mustard

¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

¼ cup finely chopped fully cooked ham

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Unroll the crescent rolls and tear along perforations. They should now resemble the shape of a triangle. Put the triangles on a cookie sheet and spread mustard on each one. Last night, she did a pre-show interview in Canada much to the delight of her Canadian fans. Here is a synopsis of the interview as told by Victoria Ahearn of the Canadian Press.

TORONTO - Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" TV show, has trudged through a mess of controversy on her "Best of Both Worlds Tour," which lands in the city this weekend.

Shows have sold out in as little as four minutes, resulting in many disappointed tween admirers and their parents. Some members of the Miley Cyrus fan club even launched a class-action lawsuit, arguing they were supposed to get first dibs on tickets and didn't.

Then there was the pregnancy rumour and whispers of weight gain.

Through it all, the 15-year-old has remained remarkably down-to-earth. She still gets an allowance and has even been grounded by her father - "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus - while on tour.

"It was because I was being a smart aleck, I deserved it. I was smarting off," Cyrus said in an interview ahead of her Saturday show at the Air Canada Centre - her only Canadian stop.

Cyrus acknowledges that the hype surrounding the tour is "definitely stressful," but says she's surrounded by good people, including her famous dad.

"You know - you've got your manager, you've got your this, you've got your that, like, they all know so much more than you do and so I just try to stay out of it," she said in her trademark raspy voice.

The Nashville native with the big blue eyes and long chestnut hair became an overnight sensation a year and a half ago with the launch of the "Hannah Montana" show, which airs on Family Channel in Canada.

The popular series stars the spunky Cyrus as Miley Stewart, who leads a secret dual life as a high school student by day and the pop star Hannah Montana at night.

For the first half of her live shows, Cyrus is in character wearing the blond Hannah Montana wig and singing the breezy, sugary pop songs from the series' hit soundtracks.

She closes the show as herself, cranking out tunes from her own pop debut album "Meet Miley Cyrus," released with the "Hannah Montana 2" disc in June.

Her dad - who no longer sports his famous mullet - plays her father and manager on the show.

The tween queen, who has four siblings, said her parents have been very supportive of her decision to get into show biz.

"They basically just told me whatever I want to do, just to follow my dream," said Cyrus, who wore a purple sweater dress during the interview.

"My mom was super, super supportive and really was very into this, you know, me kind of finding my own thing to do."

Cyrus's squeaky-clean image is a refreshing contrast to some of the other scandal-plagued pop stars on the scene.

Her tour has been one of the hottest tickets of the year, attracting celebs including Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum, Steven Spielberg and Kobe Bryant.

And Cyrus, who was born Destiny Hope and now lives in Los Angeles, said she's doing what she can to help with the ticket demand.

She recently added more dates, but said it's impossible to make everyone happy, adding she'd have to tour "for months and months" to allow everyone to see her show.

Miley Cyrus Gives Hannah Montana Fans Early Christmas Present

On December 12, Miley Cyrus of Disney's Hannah Montana announced that an additional 14 concerts have been added to The Best of Both World's Tour. Beginning in Detroit on January 11 and ending in Miami on January 31. The Jonas Brothers, the opening act for the tour will be replaced by Aly & AJ from January 11 to January 24.

The tour follows the June 2007 release of Cyrus's double album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The tour began on October 18, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri and was scheduled to end on January 9, 2008 in Albany, New York.

Best of Both Worlds Tour is a 2007-2008 North American concert tour featuring singer, songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus of the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. She performs as a solo artist and in character as Hannah Montana. The tour is named after the theme song for the series, "The Best of Both Worlds", which reflects the dual nature of the series' character. The tour has become the most wanted concert tickets of 2007. The concert tour was created and directed by Kenny Ortega, the director of High School Musical and High School Musical 2.

My Family Chanukah Party

Every year, my mom, dad, brother and I have a big party in the middle of Chanukah. But this is not an ordinary party. It's a Chanukah party with Chanukah decorations, latkes, jelly donuts and presents for everyone. We only invite relatives. This party is so much fun!! It's usually at night. I get to make the invitations by hand. That's a lot of fun too. Two hours before the party will start, my mom starts setting up. We usually buy Chanukah tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, and signs. My Mom pulls out the table so there is more space to put the food. The food is set up like a buffet. You're supposed to take what you want to eat. Mom puts the tablecloth on and starts taking out plates, cups, silverware and napkins. While whe does that, my brother and I get dressed for the party. When we come out there are more chairs in the living room and little bowls with potato chips, M&Ms, and nuts in them. The decorations are up. Our cameras are out. Soon the guest will arrive.

The guest arrive!!! The party starts. First we light the menorah as everyone gathers around and we sing a Chanukah song or two with everybody. Then mom takes out the food. Everyone piles around the table to get food. We all sit together talking as we eat. We all walk around and talk to every single person. I usually have so much to say. We eat for a long time. Many get up for seconds of latkes and apple sauce. After that mom brings out a delicious chocolate cake. It always tastes great!! After that we open presents. Everyone gives something to each other. My brother and I usually make our presents by hand. There would always be a smile on everybody's face because we all give great presents. Jelly Doughnuts - Sufganiot

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cup - Flour
2 cups - Hot milk
2 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 cup - Lukewarm milk
6 - Egg yolks
2/3 cup - Sugar
1 tsp. - Vanilla
Rind of 1 lemon or orange
1/2 cup - Butter
Jam - for filling
Oil - for frying
icing sugar (powdered sugar)

Directions:

Sift one cup of flour into the hot milk and beat until smooth, then allow to cool. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm milk, add to the flour mixture, and set aside for about half an hour. Mix the egg yolks and sugar with the vanilla and rind, and add to the dough. Add the remaining flour and the butter and knead. Allow to rise until double in bulk (about 45 minutes). Roll out on a floured board to a thickness of 1/2 inch, and cut into rounds. Put a teaspoon of jam in the center of one round, and cover it with another round. Press the edges together and allow to rise again in a warm place. Fry in hot oil, drain, and dust with icing sugar.

Latkes

Ingredients:

5 large potatoes, peeled
1 large onion
3 eggs
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. Salt
¼ tsp. pepper
¾ cup oil for frying

Use: 10-inch skillet
Yields: 4 to 6 servings

Grate potatoes and onion on the fine side of a grater, or in a food processor; or put in a blender with a little water.

Strain grated potatoes and onion through a colander, pressing out excess water. Add eggs, flour, and seasoning. Mix well.
Heat ½ cup oil in skillet. Lower flame and place 1 large tablespoon batter at a time into hot sizzling oil and fry on one side for approximately 5 minutes until golden brown. Turn over and fry on other side 2 to 3 minutes.

Remove from pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Continue with remaining batter until used up, adding more oil when necessary.

Serve with applesauce on the side.

Variation: Zucchini or Carrot Latkes: Substitute 5 medium zucchini or 5 medium carrots for potatoes.

Chanukah Dreidel Cookies

This recipe is a treat for kids and adults.
Much tastier than simple sugar cookies.

Ingredients:
1/2 c. butter or vegetable shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg1 tsp. grated orange peel
2 tbsp. orange juice
1 c. ground Brazil nuts
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. almond flavoring

Instructions:

Cream together butter or shortening and sugar
until light and fluffy.
Stir in egg, orange peel, orange juice, and Brazil nuts.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
Stir in almond flavoring. Chill several hours or over night.
Roll out dough 1/8 inch thick on a lightly floured board.
Cut into "dreidel" shapes
(craft stores carry dreidel cookie cutters)
Bake on un-greased cookie sheets at 375 degrees
for 8-10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from
the cookie sheet.

The dreidel game is played traditionally during Chanukah and is a favorite among Jewish children in Israel and around the world

To play this game one dreidel is used for two or more players. Each player begins with some coins, nuts,sweets or other tokens. Every person then contributes one token to the center.

The first player spins the dreidel following the rule associated with the Hebrew letter which shows on top when the dreidel stops spinning. The second player then takes a turn, and so on. When all the tokens are gone from the center the person with the most tokens wins.

The rules associated with each letter are as follows:
Hey - the spinner takes half the tokens in the center
Shin - the spinner adds a token to the center (sometimes two tokens are added rather than one)
Nun - the spinner does nothing and play passes to the next person
Gimel - the spinner takes all the tokens from the center winning the game

The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade has been an American Thanksgiving Day tradition for 81 years . First you could enter a contest and win tickets. Those are a long short but people do win. In the latest most publicized contest a devoted father, whose inspiration was his 7 year old daughter Hannah, triumphed over 20 contestants to win four tickets to a sold out Hannah Montana concert.

Jody Powell, 35, spent six days hanging on to a twelve foot statue of "Hannah Montana" in the parking lot of radio station WFLZ-FM, the contest's sponsor to win the tickets to the sold out Hannah Montana concert starring the Disney Channel's Miley Cyrus. The concert will be held this week in Tampa, Florida.

The contest started Nov. 8. They were allowed 12-minute breaks every three hours and got catered meals, but weren't allowed books, cell phones or iPods according to the Associated Press.

Powell was declared the winner Wednesday afternoon when the other remaining contestant, Lara Padgett, became distracted and let go.

"I'm ecstatic. It's like a dream come true," said Powell, holding four tickets to the show and a photo of his fiancee with her 7-year-old daughter.

You could purchase tickets at resale prices.

"Hannah Montana tickets are obviously the hottest tickets around. The resale value is stagging.
According to Star reporter David Lidquist "the asking price for a second-row ticket is $1,840, with individual balcony seats in the neighborhood of $150. These tickets originally were sold for $56 and $26." It's quite a resale frenzy.

Parents who are desperate to make their children's dreams a reality are driven to tears by the high prices.

“Her initial response was to hold back tears, I think,” Messang said of her daughter's response to the sellout. “Then it was, ‘That's OK, Mom. It’s not the end of the world.’ ”

Ticket broker Harrison said “Hannah Montana” tickets will stay hot on the resale market as long as parents want their youngsters to attend.

Parents are being blamed for the tickets being so high because they are willing to shell out the cash for the tickets. Kids don't buy tickets parents do. It is quite unusual for a family event to be so extremely popular.

Anyone hoping to get tickets to the sold-out “Hannah Montana” concert Dec. 9 at Conseco Fieldhouse faces the prospect of paying big bucks to a broker.

Some of the money procured from the outrageously priced 'Hannah Montana' tickets is going toward more philantropic endeavors. Tickets are being auctioned off by radio stations for worthy causes. I guess this is to soothe guilty consciences about asking so much for a kid concert. Just making your child happy may not be enough to keep consciences at bay.

“The Bob and Tom Show” on radio station WFBQ-FM (94.7) auctioned off four tickets to the show, four backstage passes, an autographed Christmas ornament signed by “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus and supporting act "The Jonas Brothers", limousine transportation to and from the concert and dinner for four before the show.The minimum bid is $1,000.

The Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent was the lucky recipient of some of this "Hannah Montana" Money. Proceeds will be used for educational and entertainment technology to help children and their families pass time together during chemotherapy sessions.

According to Renny Harrison of local brokerage company Circle City Tickets, consumer demand and prices set by his company are higher for the “Hannah Montana” show than for any other concert in Conseco Fieldhouse history.

Fewer than 8,000 tickets sold out within minutes in September when the Nov. 25 Greensboro show went on sale at the box office and Ticketmaster. Another 5,000 went to fan clubs. Tickets at much higher prices almost immediately appeared for sale at online broker sites.

Coliseum officials didn't know late Friday how many of the new tickets would be available. They had been asking promoters for more seats because of the local demand, coliseum Managing Director Matt Brown said.

And most, like Greensboro, are requiring the matching credit card and ID to fend off online brokers.

Greensboro attorney Jeffrey Peraldo represents his wife and another family who are suing online brokers. The extra tickets is "awesome" news, he said.

"I think that's fabulous," Peraldo said. "Because now it allows families to attend the concert at face value ... without paying these prices that these online scalpers are charging."

The only problem, he said, is that the online scalping continues. He hopes the courts will step in and demand online scalpers stop operating in North Carolina.

Thanksgiving started in Canada with the English explorer, Martin Frobisher,
who was on his way to the Orient. He did not make it to the Far East but
instead established a settlement in Northern America. To give thanks for
surviving the long journey he held a formal ceremony. This took place in 1578 in
NewFoundland.This was Canada's First Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived
and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted and had an inlet of
the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him - Frobisher Bay.

French settlers also crossed the ocean at that time and arrived in Canada
with explorer Samuel de Champlain, also held huge feasts of thanks.
They even formed 'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food

Construction paper (orange, red, yellow, brown, and other earth tones)
Crayons or markers
Scissors
Glue, tape, or staples
A long piece of green or brown yarn or string

1. Draw a leaf on a piece of construction paper.
Make sure to draw a thick stem on the top
(your leaf will hang from this stem, which will be folded over).

2. Cut out the leaf. Draw the leaf veins if you wish.

Fold the leaf's stem in half.

3. Attach the leaf to a long string using tape, glue,
or staples. Make more leaves and attach them to the string.

Hang your string of leaves across the room for a
wonderful Thanksgiving decoration.

400 g chocolate
6 small apples
colored or chocolate sprinkles

You will also need:
6 small wooden forks
wax paper

Directions

Brake the chocolate into pieces and put it in the microwave for 5 minutes on medium heat. While the chocolate is melting, wash and dry the apples. Stick a wooden fork on the top of each apple. Dip the apples into the chocolate. Let the excess drip. Roll each apple in the sprinkles and put it on parchment paper. Leave it in the refrigerator until it hardens.

I was at the corner of Grove and Baldwyn, just minutes away from my mid-afternoon coffee, when they stopped me. Two boys, in conservative but rumpled suits, big black hats shielding their faces from the sun.

They wanted me to light a candle.

But not just any candle, they wanted me to light a candle for G-d. To change the world. To bring perfection. I wondered if soon they'd tell me it was the key to wealth.

I said no.

I was searching for meaning all my life.

I knew money was not the key. Even the citi ads agreed.

I needed more. Fulfillment. Career. A sense of self worth. A group of friends. A part in changing someone's life. And I got it all, but it wasn't enough.

On that day, I knew I needed more. But I was prepared to give more community service, a more challenging job. Not G-d.

I don't need G-d in my life. I live in this world, not in nirvana. I don't need ritual, repetitive cultish behavior to give color to my world. I certainly didn't need a plain white tealight to replace my lavender scented pillar.

I needed meaning.

So I said no.

Weeks later, they stopped me again.

This time, they were carrying branches and fruit. They wanted me to wave them in the air, to shake them in all directions. For G-d. For world peace. For unity.

What a ridiculous way of avoiding reality.

I said no.

But the next day, I said yes.

I figured, what harm can come from a little foreign culture? So I shook the fruit. And there were no fireworks, no visions of G-d, no glow of accomplishment. Just like I expected.

But later that night, there was something different. Nothing big, nothing I could quite put my finger on. Just a very slight feeling of good.

So the next day, I waved the branch again. I repeated the strange syllables, and waved the fruit around. But not for world peace. Just to catch that elusive feeling.

Now, I light candles every Friday night. I stopped putting milk in my chicken a la King. I read words of praise daily from a little book. To G-d.

What changed?

Oddly enough, it hasn't changed the things I do. I still have my career. I still have my friends. I still volunteer at the women's shelter. But it's more.

Nothing has changed. Nothing has changed in my 5-dimensional world.

But I've discovered a sixth dimension I never knew existed.

I would never have believed it if I heard it. Reading about it would make no difference. Sound can only be understood in the context of other sounds.

Not until I shook a branch could I have reference for that dimension. And not until I began doing more could I really feel its presence.

Those boys could have talked me blue in the face, but it would be meaningless on its own. I had to actually do it myself.

And now, I know why they stopped me.

Jewish children in Israel and all over the world celebrate
Thanksgiving with the Jewish Harvest Festival called Sukkot.
In modern day Israel and around the world, Sukkot is a 7-day holiday,
with the first day celebrated as a full festival with special prayer services
and holiday meals. Sukkot is a Biblical pilgrimage festival that occurs in
autumn on the 15th day of the month of Tishri (late September to late October).
The holiday lasts 7 days. This year it took place from the sunset of October 13
- the sunset of October20/21 depending on your location in the world.

The Festival of Sukkot begins on the fifth day after Yom Kippur.
The holiday commemorates the forty-year period during which
the children of Israel were wandering in the desert.
Sukkot is also a harvest festival.

Sukkot traditions and customs have both historical
and religious significance. This festival dates back to the
period during which Hebrews wandered in the wilderness on
route to Canaan (now Israel). During their pilgrimage, they lived
in temporary booths. This open living space is called a sukkah.
People also gathered in sukkot to worship and share meals. Thus,
Sukkot is also called the Feast of Tabernacle. During harvest time,
farmers lived in sukkot in open fields because it gave them
more time for harvesting. During Succoth, farmers take this time to
thank God for the crops.
On each of the seven days of Sukkot, the Torah requires
the Jew to take Four Species of plants and to grasp and shake
them in a specific manner. These species are:
the lulav (date palmfrond), hadass (bough of a myrtle tree),
aravah (willow branch)— these three are actually
and collectively referred to as the lulav—and the
etrog (a citron, a lemon-like citrus fruit).
The word Sukkot is the plural of the Hebrew word sukkah,
meaning booth or hut. During this holiday,
Jews are instructed to build a temporary structure
in which to eat their meals, entertain guests, relax, and even sleep.
The sukkah is reminiscent of the type of huts in which the
ancient Israelites dwelt during their 40 years of wandering
in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt, and is intended to
reflect God's benevolence in providing for all the Jews' needs
in the desert.

Kids who love camping outdoors, have a lot of fun. The sukkah
has at least three sides and a partially open roof covered with
greenery such as olive branches. Three sides of the sukkah are
covered with blue and gold fabric. Part of the fun of sukkot is
decorating the sukkah with fruits, flowers and, in the United States,

The next series of posts are going to be about how children around the world celebrate Thanksgiving. In most countries Thanksgiving is most commonly known as a Harvest festival but the spirit behind each is basically the same. Children and their families come together to celebrate and give thanks for their blessings and life.

I will focus on the most popular festivals known around the world finishing with How children in America celebrate Thanksgiving. It is the best known Thanksgiving Festival in the World.

Korean Thanksgiving: Chusok

Chusuk is Korean Thanksgiving where families gather over a huge meal to talk about the good old times and to catch up. It’s also a time to see celebs all dressed up in gorgeous hanboks to spread the Chusuk spirit.

It is held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. Chusuk means a great day in the middle of August but it can happen in September or even October depending on the Chinese calendar. This year it took place on September24 - September 26. It occurs during the harvest season. Korean families take this time to thank their ancestors for providing them with rice and fruits.

The celebration starts on the night before Chusuk and ends on the day after the holiday. Korean families take three days off from work to get together with family and friends.

The celebration starts with a family get-together where rice cakes called "Songphyun" are served.
Like the Chinese with their moon cakes, the Koreans have songpyon (full-moon rice cakes stuffed with sesame, beans, chestnuts, or Chinese dates).
Then the family pays respect to ancestors by visiting their tombs and offering them rice and fruits.

In the evening, children wear their favorite hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) and dance under the bright moon in a large circle. They play games and sing songs. Like the American Thanksgiving, Chusuk is the time to celebrate the family and give thanks for their blessings.

I have found three differentways of spelling Chusuk, Chusuk, Chuseok.

Strawberry Shortcake Pineapple Cupcakes

This a simple recipe is great for kids. Each child can personalize his own cupcake.

This recipe is wonderful because it uses fresh strawberries which are healthy and absolutely delicious. This is my healthy cupcake. Cupcakes are great but they should not be eaten all the time because of the sugar and fat. But there ways to reduce these and make cupcakes a lot more healthier.
Cupcakes

1 box pineapple cake mix
If unavailable, use white cake mix and use pineapple juice from canned pineapples as the liquid.
(add crushed canned pineapples the same way you make pineapple upside cupcakes if you wish)

Filling and Topping:

8 cups stemmed and sliced strawberries (about 5 pints), plus 12 large strawberries, cleaned and stemmed
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Use cool whip for a quicker and healthier whip cream.

Prepare ingredients according to the directions on the package. Bake in greased cupcake pans or with cupcake papers.
Cool the cupcakes for 10 minutes in the pan on a wire rack. Remove the cupcakes from the pan onto a wire rack and let cool completely, then remove the paper liners.

Make the filling and topping:

In a large bowl, stir together the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Let sit for 30 minutes. Some juice will be released as the strawberries sit, and they will shrink to about 6 cups.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Using a serrated knife, slice each cupcake into three layers. Place the bottom of each cupcake on an individual serving plate. Spoon 1/4 cup of the strawberries, with their juices, onto each one, then spoon 1/4 cup whipped cream onto each. Top with the middle cupcake layers and repeat with the remaining sliced strawberries and another 1/4 cup whipped cream for each. Some sliced strawberries and whipped cream will spill onto the plates; this is good.

Place the cupcake tops on top and garnish each one with a tablespoon of whipped cream and a whole strawberry. Serve immediately.

Here is the surprise. Before you serve the cupcakes insert an almond Hershey kiss in each cupcake. Don't let the kids see you or else it won't be a surprise. Give them a short little project so you can seal the Hershey Kiss. They'll wonder how it got there. You can use your imagination and come up with your own fairytale about it.

The unfilled cupcakes can be covered and stored for one day at room temperature.

Before they are filled, these cupcakes can be tightly wrapped and frozen for up to a month. Take out as many cupcakes as you need and defrost them still in their wrapping. The quantities below are for about 1/2 cup strawberries and a generous 1/2 cup whipped cream for each cupcake-but more is fine

So always take personal time for your self and not just going out, because you are making the child the king of your castle if you do that. You need to incorporate it into your home life. Let the kid know that you are not here to serve them only. By doing this you are also creating healthy independence in your child. Let your child know that you are a person just like he/she is with your own activities. Let your child know that just because you are in the house does not mean you are free to cater to his every whim. Soon he will realize that Mommy has her own life too.

Train up the child in the way he should go and when he is old, like 7, he shall never depart from it.

Is your home under your control or do the kids have the run of it? To find out do this test:

When you are home get yourself busy doing some me activities like relaxing or reading a magazine you enjoy. Give your self a pedicure or anything that has nothing to do with the kids or the family as a whole. Then notice how they behave. Keep track of how often they ask you for something or ask you to do something for them. Do not give in to any demands or requests unless it's an absolute emergency. Now notice who loses their cool or seem incapable of functioning without you help.

Once you have made your assessment proceed on a plan for taking back your domain.

The best place to start is at home because most couples and parents are used to personal time outside the home. It may seem easiest to leave the kids at home but that just makes your home an unpleasant and stressful place to be. Why would you make the place you spend most of your time seem like a battle zone when compared to the places where you de-stress and enjoy yourself the most.

Here is a Mommy and Daddy only cupcake recipe that you can enjoy. You can let the kids have a little taste but that would be contradicting the point.

Easy rum cakes

1 (15 1/2 oz.) can French vanilla pudding
1 tbsp. rum
1/2 c. heavy cream, whipped
1 box yellow cake mix
Powdered sugar

Mix pudding and rum; fold in whipped cream. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; place in paper-lined muffin tins. Bake according to package directions; cool thoroughly. Cut circle from center of each cupcake with center section of doughnut cutter; scoop out some of the cake. Spoon filling into center of each cupcake; replace cake circle. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Yield: 24 cupcakes.

Twinkette cupcakes

1 box lemon cake mix
1 box yellow cake mix
1 box pineapple cake mix

If this is unavailable in your area, a white cake mix can be substituted and pineapple juice substituted for the liquid.

Combine cake mixes and add ingredients according to package directions. Bake in greased cupcake pans or pans lined with cupcake papers for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, fill with the following:

FRENCH VANILLA FILLING:

5 tbsp. flour
5 tbsp. sugar
1 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Combine flour and sugar together in a small saucepan. Add milk and stir until the lumps are gone. Cook and stir constantly over medium heat until thick. Cool thoroughly. Cream together other ingredients. Add cooled milk mixture and beat for 5 minutes. Put filling mixture into frosting dispenser. Insert dispenser way down into cupcake and squirt filling into cupcake. Repeat with remaining cupcakes. This makes approximately 80 to 90 cupcakes. They freeze well in air tight containers.

Four cups of the 3 cake mixed together dry = 1 box of package directions. Makes 30 cupcakes. Store remaining dry mix in air tight canisters.

CHOCOLATE TWINKETTE CUPCAKES: One box devils food cake mix, 1 box Swiss chocolate cake mix and 1 box sour cream chocolate cake mix. Follow above directions.

How Cupcakes and Fairy cakes came to be?

Once upon a time, there was a young kitty called Cupcake from Australia.
Cupcake was a fine cat and all the children loved her. She loved curling up on the couch, purring and cozying up with everyone.

Cupcake loved cream very much. It was her favorite thing. She like it even better than fish. You knew that because there was never a drop of cream left in her dish. Whenever Cupcake took a nap everyone would say she must be dreaming of cream.

But what they didn't know was that Cupcake was dreaming of fairies. Tiny little people with wings on their backs. They were always very busy making beautiful cakes. All with pretty frosting impossible to resist. All the fairies loved Cupcake very much and gave all the cakes she could every eat. They were so rich and creamy that Cupcake thought she was in heaven.

There is a connection between children and cats. If they both went to sleep at the same time their dreams get intertwined. And this is what happen to Cupcake one day. Usually Cupcake was not allowed to sleep in the children's room because of the myth of cats sucking the life out of the children when they sleep. But one day when Katie, who was 3, was having an afternoon nap Cupcake crept into Katie's bed and went to sleep. And this is when Katie entered into Cupcake's dream world.

Katie had never seen a fairy before. Children can only see them through a cat's eye. She was amazed and bewildered. She had never seen such tiny creatures before. They were about the length of a ruler and they all flew around like busy bees. When she saw Cupcake she ran to her but that was when she got the shock of her three year old life. Cupcake could talk. Instead of meow she was talking. This was very weird for Katie knows that cats don't talk, they meow and purr.

Cupcake asked if she would like some cake. Of course Katie said "Yes, please!" But these cakes were the size of cups although to the fairies they were full size cakes. Watching Cupcake and Katie devour a whole one each and ask for seconds must have seemed like gluttony.

And this is how the cupcakes got their name. And this is why children also call cupcakes fairy cakes.

You see when Katie woke up she ran to her mother and asked her to make her a cake. But she insisted on putting the cake batter in tea cups. Her mother was a little puzzled but she tried it anyway. When they were ready Katie's mother took them out of the oven and all she just naturally and instinctively said was "the cupcakes are ready." Katie and Cupcake came running into the kitchen. "Not cupcake Mommy, Fairy cakes," Katie retorted. But Katie's mother had no idea what she was going on about. But everyday Katie would go on and on about the fairies making cakes in cups. Her mother never really understood and just kept on calling them cupcakes.

And this where Cupcake got her name. Before Cupcake was Cupcake she had no name. Everyone just called her Kitty because that was what she was, a kitty cat. But since Katie got her Mom to make the cakes in the teacups Kitty just couldn't seem to get enough of them. Everyone just started calling her Cupcake because she was always eating a cupcake. It seemed that Cupcake lived, ate and dreamed cupcakes. Cupcakes seemed to be competing with cream.
