Christmas Story: God's Perfect Gift

Christmas was when God sent Jesus into the world. He was God's perfect gift to us so he could conquer death for us so that we can live forever. Because of Jesus we will never grow old or die in the new world that God has planned for us. All we have to do is believe. Jesus is our Joy and Hope of an Eternal Destiny!

The Christmas Story: The Immaculate Conception

One night a long time ago, Mary was staring out her window daydreaming of her life with Joseph, her future husband.

All of a sudden, a shining light startled her. An angel of God appeared and spoke to Mary, "I am the angel Gabriel sent by God to tell you that God loves you very much and is very happy with you. He has chosen you to be a mother of boy Jesus. Jesus will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest."

Mary said, " I will be the handmaiden of the Lord, I will yield to His Will; let it be."

And then the angel Gabriel disappeared.

Mary suddenly felt great peace and the Holy Ghost came to visit her.

Later, sometime around December 25, the powers of the Highest overshadowed her and she became pregnant.

Nine months later, in September, Jesus was born in israel in a little town called Bethlehem

Christmas is the celebration of when Jesus Christ the son of God enter the World. He was God gift to the world. Jesus Christ is the savior of all people. Because he was the Son of God he could live a perfect life as a human being without sinning. (sin is when you do something wrong like lying, stealing, wanting what your friend has etc. Because of sin we get sick and grow old and eventually die.)

But Jesus turned that all around by living a perfect life and dying on the cross, and rising from the dead, for the sins of the world. All we have to do now is believe on him and we to will be able to live again when we die just like Jesus did when he died. Until then we just have to believe and God sends his holy spirit to live in us making us better people until we are resurrected in to our new perfect bodies that Jesus has prepared for us.

Jesus Christ is our Christmas miracle

Miley Cyrus and Chris Brown Fundraise at St.Jude's Children's Hospital's Math-A-Thon

Miley Cyrus, of Disney Channel’s hit television show Hannah Montana, and pop singer Chris Brown, the 2006 Billboard Music Artist of the Year, signed on as video hosts for St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon® program.

http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6056/miley1cf0.jpg

Math-A-Thon, now in its 29th year, is one of St. Jude’s most successful fundraising campaigns and one of America’s largest education-based fundraisers.
The videos will be shown in thousands of schools across the country to help educate students about Math-A-Thon. In Cyrus’ video, Math-A-Thon Live, she encourages students to get excited about math and shows students how they use math in their everyday lives and how, even at a young age, they can help other kids. In his video, Brown encourages students to raise both awareness and funds for St. Jude. Each video will highlight the singers’ hits, Cyrus’ "Right Here" and Brown’s "Run It."

Cyrus, who is the youngest artist in recording history to have two No. 1 albums in less than a year, is committed to helping the kids at St. Jude. "It’s great to be able to encourage kids to learn and help other kids at the same time," she said.

Likewise, Brown understands the importance fundraising plays in helping the patients at St. Jude. "I want to show students that math and fundraising are still ‘cool,’" he said.

From a promise of "Show me my way in life and I will build you a shrine" to the fulfillment of his dream, Danny Thomas lived to see his little hospital become a beacon of hope for the catastrophically ill children of the world. The founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and ALSAC died on February 6, 1991, just two days after joining patients, parents and employees to celebrate the hospital’s 29th anniversary. He was laid to rest in a family crypt at the Danny Thomas / ALSAC Pavilion on the grounds of the hospital. On July 12, 2000, his wife, Rose Marie, passed away and now lies with her beloved husband in the hospital’s Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden. Today, their children, Marlo, Terre and Tony, carry on their parents’ work and remain a driving force in fulfilling their father’s mission. Danny is gone, but his dream lives on.

International Outreach

Improved therapy dramatically increased survival rates for children with cancer over the past three decades, but worldwide, fewer than 30 percent of children with cancer have access to modern treatment.

The mission of International Outreach is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic diseases worldwide, through the transfer of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills.

A global mission

By helping hospitals in developing countries form research ethics committees, St. Jude opens the door to sharing lifesaving knowledge with the world.

Chanukah Story told by Kids

Happy Chanukah everyone. May the feeling and love you feel during this time of year be with you always. I hope you enjoy this story as Sarah gives you a glimpse into modern day Chanukah celebrations

My Family Chanukah Party
by Sarah Edelsburg, age 10

Every year, my mom, dad, brother and I have a big party in the middle of Chanukah. But this is not an ordinary party. It's a Chanukah party with Chanukah decorations, latkes, jelly donuts and presents for everyone. We only invite relatives. This party is so much fun!! It's usually at night. I get to make the invitations by hand. That's a lot of fun too. Two hours before the party will start, my mom starts setting up. We usually buy Chanukah tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, and signs. My Mom pulls out the table so there is more space to put the food. The food is set up like a buffet. You're supposed to take what you want to eat. Mom puts the tablecloth on and starts taking out plates, cups, silverware and napkins. While whe does that, my brother and I get dressed for the party. When we come out there are more chairs in the living room and little bowls with potato chips, M&Ms, and nuts in them. The decorations are up. Our cameras are out. Soon the guest will arrive.

The guest arrive!!! The party starts. First we light the menorah as everyone gathers around and we sing a Chanukah song or two with everybody. Then mom takes out the food. Everyone piles around the table to get food. We all sit together talking as we eat. We all walk around and talk to every single person. I usually have so much to say. We eat for a long time. Many get up for seconds of latkes and apple sauce. After that mom brings out a delicious chocolate cake. It always tastes great!! After that we open presents. Everyone gives something to each other. My brother and I usually make our presents by hand. There would always be a smile on everybody's face because we all give great presents. After tht we eat some more dessert and everybody for while looks at their gifts. My brother and I start playing with our presents. Soon people have to leave Soon everyone is gone. We pile all our presents in our rooms, then we quickly go to bed. My Chanukah party is my favorite party of the year. It's so much fun!!!

Strawberry Shortcake Surprise Cupcakes

Strawberry Shortcake Pineapple Cupcakes

This a simple recipe is great for kids. Each child can personalize his own cupcake.

The image “http://www.epicurean.com/featured/images/strawberry-shortcake-cupcakes.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This recipe is wonderful because it uses fresh strawberries which are healthy and absolutely delicious. This is my healthy cupcake. Cupcakes are great but they should not be eaten all the time because of the sugar and fat. But there ways to reduce these and make cupcakes a lot more healthier.
Cupcakes

1 box pineapple cake mix
If unavailable, use white cake mix and use pineapple juice from canned pineapples as the liquid.
(add crushed canned pineapples the same way you make pineapple upside cupcakes if you wish)

Filling and Topping:

8 cups stemmed and sliced strawberries (about 5 pints), plus 12 large strawberries, cleaned and stemmed
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Use cool whip for a quicker and healthier whip cream.

Prepare ingredients according to the directions on the package. Bake in greased cupcake pans or with cupcake papers.
Cool the cupcakes for 10 minutes in the pan on a wire rack. Remove the cupcakes from the pan onto a wire rack and let cool completely, then remove the paper liners.

The image “http://einsiders.com/reviews/dvd/images/strawberry1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Make the filling and topping:

In a large bowl, stir together the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Let sit for 30 minutes. Some juice will be released as the strawberries sit, and they will shrink to about 6 cups.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Using a serrated knife, slice each cupcake into three layers. Place the bottom of each cupcake on an individual serving plate. Spoon 1/4 cup of the strawberries, with their juices, onto each one, then spoon 1/4 cup whipped cream onto each. Top with the middle cupcake layers and repeat with the remaining sliced strawberries and another 1/4 cup whipped cream for each. Some sliced strawberries and whipped cream will spill onto the plates; this is good.

Place the cupcake tops on top and garnish each one with a tablespoon of whipped cream and a whole strawberry. Serve immediately.

The image “http://lsc.mit.edu/schedule/archives/design1999/Graphics/icons/kiss.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. Here is the surprise. Before you serve the cupcakes insert an almond Hershey kiss in each cupcake. Don't let the kids see you or else it won't be a surprise. Give them a short little project so you can seal the Hershey Kiss. They'll wonder how it got there. You can use your imagination and come up with your own fairytale about it.

The unfilled cupcakes can be covered and stored for one day at room temperature.

Before they are filled, these cupcakes can be tightly wrapped and frozen for up to a month. Take out as many cupcakes as you need and defrost them still in their wrapping. The quantities below are for about 1/2 cup strawberries and a generous 1/2 cup whipped cream for each cupcake-but more is fine

Mommy cupcakes

Mommies and Daddies should never loose their identity when they have children. This is a very common error that happens in families today. As soon as the children come along the parent's life becomes the life of the child.

This should not happen. Children are an addition to your life because of your selfless act of giving a total stranger a home, your bodies. So, you are the teachers. The child should never run or dictate the direction of you life. That is contrary to nature and what God wanted for humans. Remember you represent the Godhead in your household.

The greatest love is not the parent-child relationship as this has vanity involved in it. You cannot hate you own flesh and blood. Love for a stranger is the greatest love thereby making the husband-wife relationship greater than the parent-child.

Disregarding yourselves for your child only creates a psychological environment that leads to depression and all kinds of other dysfunctions, whether you are aware of it or not. In a lot of cases divorce is the end result.

So always take personal time for your self and not just going out, because you are making the child the king of your castle if you do that. You need to incorporate it into your home life. Let the kid know that you are not here to serve them only. By doing this you are also creating healthy independence in your child. Let your child know that you are a person just like he/she is with your own activities. Let your child know that just because you are in the house does not mean you are free to cater to his every whim. Soon he will realize that Mommy has her own life too.

Train up the child in the way he should go and when he is old, like 7, he shall never depart from it.

Is your home under your control or do the kids have the run of it? To find out do this test:

When you are home get yourself busy doing some me activities like relaxing or reading a magazine you enjoy. Give your self a pedicure or anything that has nothing to do with the kids or the family as a whole. Then notice how they behave. Keep track of how often they ask you for something or ask you to do something for them. Do not give in to any demands or requests unless it's an absolute emergency. Now notice who loses their cool or seem incapable of functioning without you help.

Once you have made your assessment proceed on a plan for taking back your domain.

The best place to start is at home because most couples and parents are used to personal time outside the home. It may seem easiest to leave the kids at home but that just makes your home an unpleasant and stressful place to be. Why would you make the place you spend most of your time seem like a battle zone when compared to the places where you de-stress and enjoy yourself the most.

Here is a Mommy and Daddy only cupcake recipe that you can enjoy. You can let the kids have a little taste but that would be contradicting the point.

Enjoy!

Silly Bunny, Cupcakes are for kids!

Lately the adults have discovered the little, cute as a button cupcake. We are in love with how such a little bit of pastry can pack so much punch. Also, it makes you think you can have your cake and eat it too. For such a small thing could not make you fat. Or a little indulgence is good for the spirit. Children are less influenced by the size of the cupcake as anything bigger than their tiny hands is quite a lot. But as they grow one cupcake is child's play.
The image “http://www.ivybakery.com/images/menu/product/cakes/Cupcakes/StrawberryShortCupCakeCropp.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
But as we know the cupcake is deceptive. Having just one will not be the end of it. It is like a drug that is addictive. You will gobble the whole platter if you dare allow yourself that freedom.

So, when handling the little cupcake, beware. For they may look harmless, innocent and amazing eye candy but they can spiral into an obsession that lacks all sense and sensibilities and not to mention, on a more serious note, a sugar overload that the human body cannot handle.

So, parents and kids should always handle their cupcakes with ought most respect. Using restraint when you delve into the cupcake zone.

Adult fetishes may come and go but the cupcake will never die because as long as a child is born, the cupcake life continues on. Long live the cupcake. Viva la cupcake. Ooooh a French cupcake. I hope I can find an easy one for you to try out.

And don't forget to use lots of fruit and try to keep the sugar and fat down. Let us always remember that being healthy should be a priority

So kids get your baking gear ready, this is going to be a really good one. And you don't have to be perfect. You are a kid. Perfection is not in your vocabulary.

Twinkette cupcakes

1 box yellow cake mix
1 box pineapple cake mix

If this is unavailable in your area, a white cake mix can be substituted and pineapple juice substituted for the liquid.

Combine cake mixes and add ingredients according to package directions. Bake in greased cupcake pans or pans lined with cupcake papers for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, fill with the following:
