Cyrus who recently had her name legally change to Miley Ray Cyrus met with approximately 100 parents and their children and posed for oodles of pictures and signed autographs for all the sick youngsters. She really did put a smile on their faces and made them forget their the pain for a moment.
Miley Cyrus who plays Disney's Hannah Montana is now legally Miley Ray Cyrus in honor of her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus, adopted her childhood nickname "Miley", short for "Smiley" as her stage name.
I personally think she should keep the Destiny Hope making a full name Miley Ray Destiny Hope Cyrus with the short version being Miley Ray Cyrus. Most people never really know that people have other names unless if you're a celebrity. I think children should be allowed to choose their names while keeping their original birth names. I like Miley Ray Destiny Hope Cyrus. It sounds complete and right.

Pizza is the favorite kid food of all time. Even the fussiest of all eaters cannot resist pizza. I have known the fussiest of kids when it comes to food but they all seem to enjoy some part of pizza. I knew this little girl who wouldn't eat the crust and ate only the top of the pizza; others prefer the crust. But whatever your preference pizza always satisfies and his a healthy meal of choice.
Pizza is the perfect solution when feeding a pack of picky eaters? To make pizza even more consumer friendly give them exactly what they want with do-it-yourself pizzas.
Just give them pizza dough and all kinds of toppings, and let them come up with their own creative self-serve masterpieces.
Divide pizza dough into single-size portions or take a whole pizza crust and designate a section for each kid.
An efficient way to make a lot of individual pizzas: pat most of the dough into a large rectangle and make a grid pattern with strips of remaining dough. Let kids fill the grids with the toppings of their choice. When the pizza is baked, use a pizza wheel or large knife to cut along the grid lines.
Explore other pizza shapes. How about hearts, flowers, bears, fish or even kid-shaped pizzas?
Make individual pizza pockets--or calzones--by spreading half a round of raw pizza dough with sauce and toppings, leaving a 1-inch border. Fold the other half over and seal the edges by pressing the dough together with a fork. Brush with olive oil and bake.
For a quick and easy pizza night, start with pre-baked pizza crust or make your pizza dough ahead of time.

Is Santa Claus merely a fictional character created to make children happy or was he a real human being who existed. According to history Santa Claus and the spirit behind him is based on the life of a real saint who spent his life being kind and compassionate to all he met especially children.
The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.
Under the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who ruthlessly persecuted Christians, Bishop Nicholas suffered for his faith, was exiled and imprisoned.
He died December 6, AD 343 in Myra and was buried in his cathedral church, where a unique relic, called manna, formed in his grave. This liquid substance, said to have healing powers, fostered the growth of devotion to Nicholas. The anniversary of his death became a day of celebration, St. Nicholas Day.

Through the centuries many stories and legends have been told of St. Nicholas' life and deeds. These accounts help us understand his extraordinary character and why he is so beloved and revered as protector and helper of those in need.
One story tells of a poor man with three daughters. In those days a young woman's father had to offer prospective husbands something of value—a dowry. The larger the dowry, the better the chance that a young woman would find a good husband. Without a dowry, a woman was unlikely to marry. This poor man's daughters, without dowries, were therefore destined to be sold into slavery. Mysteriously, on three different occasions, a bag of gold appeared in their home-providing the needed dowries. The bags of gold, tossed through an open window, are said to have landed in stockings or shoes left before the fire to dry. This led to the custom of children hanging stockings or putting out shoes, eagerly awaiting gifts from Saint Nicholas. Sometimes the story is told with gold balls instead of bags of gold. That is why three gold balls, sometimes represented as oranges, are one of the symbols for St. Nicholas. And so St. Nicholas is a gift-giver.

Another story tells of three theological students, traveling on their way to study in Athens. A wicked innkeeper robbed and murdered them, hiding their remains in a large pickling tub. It so happened that Bishop Nicholas, traveling along the same route, stopped at this very inn. In the night he dreamed of the crime, got up, and summoned the innkeeper. As Nicholas prayed earnestly to God the three boys were restored to life and wholeness. In France the story is told of three small children, wandering in their play until lost, lured, and captured by an evil butcher. St. Nicholas appears and appeals to God to return them to life and to their families. And so St. Nicholas is the patron and protector of children.
Through the centuries St. Nicholas has continued to be venerated by Catholics and Orthodox and honored by Protestants. By his example of generosity to those in need, especially children, St. Nicholas continues to be a model for the compassionate life.
Rockefeller Center and the Famous Christmas Tree, Rink and Decoration, New York City, New York
Widely celebrated in Europe, St. Nicholas' feast day, December 6th, kept alive the stories of his goodness and generosity. In Germany and Poland, boys dressed as bishops begged alms for the poor—and sometimes for themselves! In the Netherlands and Belgium, St. Nicholas arrived on a steamship from Spain to ride a white horse on his gift-giving rounds. December 6th is still the main day for gift giving and merrymaking in much of Europe. For example, in the Netherlands St. Nicholas is celebrated on the 5th, the eve of the day, by sharing candies (thrown in the door), chocolate initial letters, small gifts, and riddles. Dutch children leave carrots and hay in their shoes for the saint's horse, hoping St. Nicholas will exchange them for small gifts. Simple gift-giving in early Advent helps preserve a Christmas Day focus on the Christ Child.
Christmas was when God sent Jesus into the world. He was God's perfect gift to us so he could conquer death for us so that we can live forever. Because of Jesus we will never grow old or die in the new world that God has planned for us. All we have to do is believe. Jesus is our Joy and Hope of an Eternal Destiny!
One night a long time ago, Mary was staring out her window daydreaming of her life with Joseph, her future husband.
All of a sudden, a shining light startled her. An angel of God appeared and spoke to Mary, "I am the angel Gabriel sent by God to tell you that God loves you very much and is very happy with you. He has chosen you to be a mother of boy Jesus. Jesus will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest."
Mary said, " I will be the handmaiden of the Lord, I will yield to His Will; let it be."
And then the angel Gabriel disappeared.
Mary suddenly felt great peace and the Holy Ghost came to visit her.
Later, sometime around December 25, the powers of the Highest overshadowed her and she became pregnant.
Nine months later, in September, Jesus was born in israel in a little town called Bethlehem
Christmas is the celebration of when Jesus Christ the son of God enter the World. He was God gift to the world. Jesus Christ is the savior of all people. Because he was the Son of God he could live a perfect life as a human being without sinning. (sin is when you do something wrong like lying, stealing, wanting what your friend has etc. Because of sin we get sick and grow old and eventually die.)
But Jesus turned that all around by living a perfect life and dying on the cross, and rising from the dead, for the sins of the world. All we have to do now is believe on him and we to will be able to live again when we die just like Jesus did when he died. Until then we just have to believe and God sends his holy spirit to live in us making us better people until we are resurrected in to our new perfect bodies that Jesus has prepared for us.
Miley Cyrus, of Disney Channel’s hit television show Hannah Montana, and pop singer Chris Brown, the 2006 Billboard Music Artist of the Year, signed on as video hosts for St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon® program.
Math-A-Thon, now in its 29th year, is one of St. Jude’s most successful fundraising campaigns and one of America’s largest education-based fundraisers. The videos will be shown in thousands of schools across the country to help educate students about Math-A-Thon. In Cyrus’ video, Math-A-Thon Live, she encourages students to get excited about math and shows students how they use math in their everyday lives and how, even at a young age, they can help other kids. In his video, Brown encourages students to raise both awareness and funds for St. Jude. Each video will highlight the singers’ hits, Cyrus’ "Right Here" and Brown’s "Run It."
Cyrus, who is the youngest artist in recording history to have two No. 1 albums in less than a year, is committed to helping the kids at St. Jude. "It’s great to be able to encourage kids to learn and help other kids at the same time," she said.
Likewise, Brown understands the importance fundraising plays in helping the patients at St. Jude. "I want to show students that math and fundraising are still ‘cool,’" he said.
The founder of St. Jude's Children's Hospital was Danny Thomas, a national entertainer from over 50 years ago.
Danny's Dream-St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—opened its doors in 1962 and is now recognized as one of the world’s premier centers for study and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children. Focusing on pediatric leukemias, solid tumor forms of cancer, infectious diseases and biomedical research, during its first decade of existence, the hospital’s curative therapies and research successes spread its fame worldwide and helped save the lives of innumerable children everywhere.
From a promise of "Show me my way in life and I will build you a shrine" to the fulfillment of his dream, Danny Thomas lived to see his little hospital become a beacon of hope for the catastrophically ill children of the world. The founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and ALSAC died on February 6, 1991, just two days after joining patients, parents and employees to celebrate the hospital’s 29th anniversary. He was laid to rest in a family crypt at the Danny Thomas / ALSAC Pavilion on the grounds of the hospital. On July 12, 2000, his wife, Rose Marie, passed away and now lies with her beloved husband in the hospital’s Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden. Today, their children, Marlo, Terre and Tony, carry on their parents’ work and remain a driving force in fulfilling their father’s mission. Danny is gone, but his dream lives on.

Miley Cyrus sure is a busy little bee. Her shows sell out in minutes and she shows no signs of slowing down by adding 14 more shows to her January 2008 schedule. Even celebrities like Nicole Richie and Steven Spielburg have gotten tickets for The Best of Both World's concerts. Last night, she did a pre-show interview in Canada much to the delight of her Canadian fans. Here is a synopsis of the interview as told by Victoria Ahearn of the Canadian Press.
Squeaky-clean Cyrus may have hottest tour of year, but still gets grounded By Victoria Ahearn, THE CANADIAN PRESS
TORONTO - Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" TV show, has trudged through a mess of controversy on her "Best of Both Worlds Tour," which lands in the city this weekend.
Shows have sold out in as little as four minutes, resulting in many disappointed tween admirers and their parents. Some members of the Miley Cyrus fan club even launched a class-action lawsuit, arguing they were supposed to get first dibs on tickets and didn't.
Then there was the pregnancy rumour and whispers of weight gain.
Through it all, the 15-year-old has remained remarkably down-to-earth. She still gets an allowance and has even been grounded by her father - "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus - while on tour.
"It was because I was being a smart aleck, I deserved it. I was smarting off," Cyrus said in an interview ahead of her Saturday show at the Air Canada Centre - her only Canadian stop.
Cyrus acknowledges that the hype surrounding the tour is "definitely stressful," but says she's surrounded by good people, including her famous dad.
"You know - you've got your manager, you've got your this, you've got your that, like, they all know so much more than you do and so I just try to stay out of it," she said in her trademark raspy voice.
The Nashville native with the big blue eyes and long chestnut hair became an overnight sensation a year and a half ago with the launch of the "Hannah Montana" show, which airs on Family Channel in Canada.
The popular series stars the spunky Cyrus as Miley Stewart, who leads a secret dual life as a high school student by day and the pop star Hannah Montana at night.
For the first half of her live shows, Cyrus is in character wearing the blond Hannah Montana wig and singing the breezy, sugary pop songs from the series' hit soundtracks.
She closes the show as herself, cranking out tunes from her own pop debut album "Meet Miley Cyrus," released with the "Hannah Montana 2" disc in June.
Her dad - who no longer sports his famous mullet - plays her father and manager on the show.
The tween queen, who has four siblings, said her parents have been very supportive of her decision to get into show biz.
"They basically just told me whatever I want to do, just to follow my dream," said Cyrus, who wore a purple sweater dress during the interview.
"My mom was super, super supportive and really was very into this, you know, me kind of finding my own thing to do."
Cyrus's squeaky-clean image is a refreshing contrast to some of the other scandal-plagued pop stars on the scene.
Her tour has been one of the hottest tickets of the year, attracting celebs including Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum, Steven Spielberg and Kobe Bryant.
And Cyrus, who was born Destiny Hope and now lives in Los Angeles, said she's doing what she can to help with the ticket demand.
She recently added more dates, but said it's impossible to make everyone happy, adding she'd have to tour "for months and months" to allow everyone to see her show.
Hannah Montana's Miley Cyrus is donating one dollar of each ticket sold from her Best of Both world's tour to the City of Hope Foundation. What is the City of Hope Foundation and what do they really do?
City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the highest honor bestowed by the National Cancer Institute, and a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, City of Hope’s research and treatment protocols impact care throughout the nation.
Founded in 1913, City of Hope is a pioneer in the fields of bone marrow transplantation and genetics and shares its scientific knowledge with medical centers locally and globally, helping patients battling serious diseases.
The City of Hope Foundation primary function is fighting cancer. City of Hope is one of 39 NCI(National Cancer Institute)-designated Cancer Centers and is located in the city of Duarte, California.
City of Hope of Hope comprises an ambulatory and in-patient cancer treatment center as well as a biomedical research facility known as the Beckman Research Institute and the City of Hope Graduate School of Biological Sciences.
Another Cancer Center of great importance to kids all over the world is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital(Memphis, TN)
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
At St Jude some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients. No one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to pay. It is America's 3rd-largest health-care charity, with a model that keeps the costs down and the funds flowing, so the science never stops.
All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay.

The concert tour was created and directed by Kenny Ortega, the director of High School Musical and High School Musical 2.
One dollar of each ticket from the tour will go to benefit the City of Hope Foundation, which helps in fighting against cancer.

My Family Chanukah Party by Sarah Edelsburg, age 10
Every year, my mom, dad, brother and I have a big party in the middle of Chanukah. But this is not an ordinary party. It's a Chanukah party with Chanukah decorations, latkes, jelly donuts and presents for everyone. We only invite relatives. This party is so much fun!! It's usually at night. I get to make the invitations by hand. That's a lot of fun too. Two hours before the party will start, my mom starts setting up. We usually buy Chanukah tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, and signs. My Mom pulls out the table so there is more space to put the food. The food is set up like a buffet. You're supposed to take what you want to eat. Mom puts the tablecloth on and starts taking out plates, cups, silverware and napkins. While whe does that, my brother and I get dressed for the party. When we come out there are more chairs in the living room and little bowls with potato chips, M&Ms, and nuts in them. The decorations are up. Our cameras are out. Soon the guest will arrive.
The guest arrive!!! The party starts. First we light the menorah as everyone gathers around and we sing a Chanukah song or two with everybody. Then mom takes out the food. Everyone piles around the table to get food. We all sit together talking as we eat. We all walk around and talk to every single person. I usually have so much to say. We eat for a long time. Many get up for seconds of latkes and apple sauce. After that mom brings out a delicious chocolate cake. It always tastes great!! After that we open presents. Everyone gives something to each other. My brother and I usually make our presents by hand. There would always be a smile on everybody's face because we all give great presents. After tht we eat some more dessert and everybody for while looks at their gifts. My brother and I start playing with our presents. Soon people have to leave Soon everyone is gone. We pile all our presents in our rooms, then we quickly go to bed. My Chanukah party is my favorite party of the year. It's so much fun!!!
Enjoy these Chanukah treats. These are favorites of kids and can be enjoyed anytime. These treats are enjoyed by Jewish kids in Israel and around the world. Beware that these disappear very quickly so make sure you make enough.

Flee from youthful passions, and persue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 And child, you will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to perpare His ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. Because of our God's merciful compassion, the Dawn from on high will visit us to shine on those who live in Darkness and the shadow of death, to guide their feet on the way of peace. Luke 1:76-79
